Fueling the proceedings is the work of published poets, national slam champions, and up-and-comers from around the world.(Among the cast are performers and poets featured on This American Life, the Onion, and Chicago's Second City.) The whole shebang ends with the performance of a poem inspired by the show and written on the spot. The fall lineup includes an adaptation of Roberto Bolaño's novel Distant Star presented by the theater company Caborca (September 14-October 1); Blackouts by "Drag fabulist" Dickie Beau (October 5-8); Katherine Brook, Toni Enelow, and Taylor Brook's The Power of Emotion: The Apartment (October 11-21); Shaun Irons and Lauren Petty's Why Why Always, featuring Jim Fletcher (October 12-29).
It begins when you walk through the doors of the storied Radio City Music Hall.
Wintertime will see Jack and the Beanstalk, created by disabled actor and writer Mat Fraser and feminist art star Julie Atlas Muz (December 6-23).
